Sunday 10th February 2008 “Do You Know What to do as a Christian?”

Hi you all…

A very good suggestion was made in church this Sunday. It is for all of us who are either Single or broke and I know on this note I speak for a large majority… 14th February is coming, there is a date who needs no cash, roses or material stuff. His name is Jesus Christ. So those of us who are bilas, lets spend our valentines Fasting and praying to Jesus, You will find that He makes a perfect valentines date. You will gain guaranteed satisfaction and to the men… our pockets will not be affected. BUT!!! if you have a special person in your heart, don’t let them down, pair up, fast and pray together. Friends, blessings will pour like you have never seen. Jesus will not let you down.

Over the past few Sundayz pasi Kiamah haz been very adamant on the must pray for our nation and we must be prepared for our demise. He has got many peeps thinking and understanding that life is not an endless cycle and that we, as Christians have to be prepared. We have also understood that civil war in Kenya is now a reality that is staring us in the face. And todays topic… that no one cares about us other than Jesus Christ whom is the only one we should be prepared to serve.

King Saul disobeyed God

God gave King Saul special instructions through his prophet Samuel. Saul, however, was always self-willed and did things his own way. The Amalekites were a very wicked people. When they were at war with Israel, God told Saul to slay every one of them and not to take a spoil (goods taken from an enemy in wartime).

Not only did Saul take King Agag captive, but he took the best of the animals, telling Samuel he planned to use them as sacrifices to the LORD. The lesson to be learned from this event is in Samuel’s reply to Saul which is recorded in 1 Samuel 15:22 (Living Bible): “Obedience is far better than sacrifice.”

Lets Take a look at “Men who understand the times”… The men of Isachar. 1 Chronicles 12 describes the mighty warriors that joined King David in the task of returning Israel to the Lord after the reign of King Saul. The men of Issachar were especially important to David because of their understanding of the generation in which they lived and their insight into the ways of God. Verse 32 reads, “[the] men of Issachar…understood the times and knew what Israel should do.”

The great need today is for God to call out men who understand the times and know what should be done, and who will set up priorities and serve Him in thought, word and deed.

Do you know what you should do as a Christian? Do you understand the times we are living in? Kenya is going through a tough time. We are going through anarchy, there are 210 men and women in Kenya today who are holding us at ransom… the big question is can they do without Kenya? or can Kenya do without them? oh the 210 are your Honorable members of parliament. If life was important to the parliamentarians, they would have acted as soon as one person was killed but clearly, power is more important to all of them.

If Kenya dies we will have nothing, absolutely nothing but if you die, your chick will get another guy, the guy who will probably be announcing how you where a good guy how hard a gap to fill you will have created is your assistant who will have already taken over your job and perks and celebrating…

The truth if the matter is that no one cares about you or else death would have ended in Kenya as soon as the first person was killed. Always have in mind that the 210 peeps mentioned earlier… don’t give a damn about you, they don’t know you. As you are wondering where to get a job or other Kenyans the next meal, the 210 are wondering how many CC’s the latest Lexus/Merc has. Their kids will never suffer, their hair do’s cost more than your months bus fare.

Let me ask you… yes you who went to throw stones and feel like a hero… Does Kibaki/Raila know you? Does your local MP know you? does your councillor? NO!! Well guess I thought so. These guys do not give a damn about you, nada, nil.

The ONLY cause worth fighting for is Christ. Back in the 50 the common enemy in Kenya was the British with their fake stories of discovering lake Victoria and Mt. Kenya like the peeps living there were statues. During this time, some people betrayed this cause and were given a chance at Education abroad by the British as a reward. At independence, the kids of these betrayers make up the government. The real heroes of independence where dumped, look at Dedan Kimathi’s family now, look at Achieng Aneko, look at all the Mau Mau pauping on the slopes of Mt. Kenya.

Friends, people don’t care about you, fight for a cause and 5 years down the line we will read about you squatting in some dump. the ONLY cause worth fight for is Christ. Look at us… ati we fight when our “leaders” disagree, kwani do they put food on our tables? Just imagine Kibaki and Rail in Naivasha wielding machetes and axes and other crude weapons fighting for the cause? Please take time to put that scenario in mind. Now picture Kibaki and Raila having Juice and tea standing on a red carpet. Which is more likely to happen? We need to hold our members of parliament to account, they are the inciters to all violence for they have the voice. If we held these peeps to account, Kenya would be way ahead. We would be like say… Singapore. Just the other day Singapore was a 3rd world country, how about now? Its in the 1st world. There is no corruption and MP’s are accountable.

Singapore cares for its poor, a young man in Kenya who passes to Harvard standards means nothing to the govt thus is dumped, so long as he is from a poor background where as in Singapore, this young man gets a scholarship and is given full recognition by his govt. Singapore believe in hard work, here we believe in free stuff that is why we are fighting for leaders of our tribes in the hope of free stuff and fat jobs. Here we kill our heroes, a primary teacher retires into poverty while in Singapore, they retire into joy recognition and wealth.

2000 years ago Caesar ruled a great nation called Rome, no one believed that today that nation would be non-existent. 100 years from today Kenya may be non-existent. You shed your blood for nothing.

Be like the men of Isachar, “men who understand the times”. Like I asked you last week… Are you ready to die?

Phillipians 1:21(NIV)

Do you understand the times. The men of Isachar know what to do in Israel, do you know what to do in Kenya? The cops are said to be the most corrupt institution in Kenya “Utumishi kwa wote”… Service to all is most corrupt is that not a sign that the door to the govt is corruption?

Friends think about your life, do not do things because people are doing them, do things through guidance you are seeking from Christ. Let the Lord guide all your decisions, The first step is Accepting Christ as your personal Savior, Talk a pastor, talk to a saved friend, Talk to me (0722 103044) I will lead you to Christ. And we will have a healthy nation.

God Bless you all,

Jonathan Kathukya.
