Sunday 15th June 2008 “Masterz Sunday”

Dear Friends,

This Sunday was one of those unique ones in there year where there is no sermon. Hey don’t get all worked up, there doesn’t have to be a sermon for the service to be complete, there just has to be me you and all the others together in the name of Jesus Christ.

Anyway away with the intro, this Sunday was Masters Sunday where we have members of the Masters Commission Ministry lead the order of service and update us on their mission this 2008. Friends, it was great. I felt like I could reverse the year and join them and do all they did. This year Masters 2008, after 3 months of preparation, bonding, selling dough nuts and Sodas, samos and water at the food tent, they went to Garissa on a mission. I cannot for sure say I know how it was because I was not there but from the accounts given in the form of testimonies this Sunday, it was one blessed ride.

As is my norm, I do not write peoples testimonies because they are not mine, they are theirs. All I will try to do this week is summaries the lessons learned.

God can use you to do many things to perform many different things or tasks if you like. But there is a catch, you need to communicate with God don’t you? And how do you do that? You need to pray. Through prayer, God will deliver you from situations you never thought possible.

We live lives that are so secular, (I know this may hurt a few) but think about it, we want to wear the best clothes, travel in the best mats, buy stuff that we don’t really need, and all those other binge activities we indulge in, other than spend cash on a bible, an investment in Christ. When is the last time you prayed for God to guide you on how to spend some good cash you got? But remember the way you prayed pleading to God to hook you up with the cash in the first place?!?!?!

Friends on this earth we are fighting war with the devil and we must prayer for Gods guidance. Ask yourself where you will go when you die. Discuss salvation with your friends and foes, give prayer a chance and once again my dear reader if you are not saved, please consider making that change because the bible has clearly stated that hell will not be anything related to a bed of roses. Hey you don’t need to get worried now just prayer and God, who I guarantee you is listening will instantly forgive you. Al you need is faith.

It a known and established fact that the Lord hears and answers prayer.

Do you know your calling in life? hmmm!!! maybe you have received it and just don’t know how to do it. Why? Because you have not considered praying and asking God on how to handle it. You may see yourself inclined towards a task that looks very pleasing to God but nearly impossible for a regular mero (local) to perform. Like say you see yourself starting a Church in Saudi Arabia. Well through prayer, its very very possible. Put God in the Picture and you will be amazed at the seemingly impossibilities you can make possible.

These are some of the Masters Commission peeps learn’t in their mission year. Its a clear sign that giving up some time to meet up with friends in Christ with a common agenda can learn you alot.

Remember that as we mentioned last week that Jesus did not go for the professors and teachers of the law and priests of those days to be His disciples, He chose the ordinary unschooled. These are in todays Masters Commission candidates. They are not the Frontrunnerz clergy, they are not the cream of the crop, they are just ordinary peeps who chose a beautiful way to serve Jesus. Some took leave, some forewent school, some quat their jobs, some postpone seemingly important things they need to do just to get a chance to serve the Lord. There is another class starting in September and if you missed and you feel you need to join up, take this opportunity now.

Now I kindly ask you to meet up with one of the candidates to get a detailed report on how the mission to Garissa was, the heart wrenching stories of  dealing with the  Muslim community, the fear of being killed for being a Christian in an islamic society and stories of Christs Shepherds who are stationed there many of who we get to know when they are beheaded. THIS  IS A GREAT POSSIBILITY DOWN THERE.

Please ask yourself…

Is there a place for me on the mission field?

Then pray about it.

Next if you are not saved and you dont know how to go about it, here is a simple way… say the below prayer and talk to a christian friend about it or write to me “jkathukya@yahoo.com” and I will show you guide you. If you are  far just join a good bible based church and talk to one of the members. It does not have to be the pastor. talk to an usher, Talk to the guy at the door… Take courage…

Dear Lord,

I put my life before you, I cannot be all I want to be but Lord accept and forgive my sins, be my provider and support.

In Jesus Name

Amen

Thank you all and Good Day!!

Sunday 8th June 2008 “LOVE”

After 6 weeks of being ill and not going to church, 6 weeks of God working a miracle in me, of my Father in heaven saving me from what many mortals thought was imminent death. Yes death, a few peeps have told me that I am a walking miracle and I thank the Lord for that. Oh back to my point… After all those 6 weeks, the topic I find is LOVE, Love… its like Gibson Anduvate was just waiting for me to surface back to church.

The fact is God has shown me is love in all it true colours over the last few weeks. I thought I saw it all when I got saved but as I grow in faith I see it more and as I go through these trials, I see it even more. Friends God is love and God loves you dearly.

Lets see what Sinor Gibby had to say about love…

Friends what is talked about most in the world today? is it ManU? Arsenal? the day? etc. Well No!!! Today the most talked about topic is love, from the fetuses in the mothers womb to the dying, its love. Hey and its not just love in the good way its both its presence and its absence. Love is both a  beautiful and a very painful thing and I need not explain that because I am sure that almost all the peeps who will read this blog have had a taste of both extremes.

Think of this… “If love is so good, why does it hurt so much?”

Just like faith love is a motivator, love is what God offered to us in the greatest sacrifice ever…

John 3:16(NIV)
16″For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[a] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

God Loved us from before he created us. God had never had any intention to condemn us…

John 3:17(NIV)
17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

When Jesus started his mission on earth, as a sign of love He did not go to the temple to mix withthe elders nor did He go the he houses of wealthy and the rich, instead He went to the poor and those looked down in society, Jesus mixed with the sick, the terminally ill, tax collectors, prostitutes and the works. He fulfilled the promise that God is love and does not chose a certain class in society to love. God loves us all.

Luke 5:27-31(NIV)
27After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector by the name of Levi sitting at his tax booth. “Follow me,” Jesus said to him, 28and Levi got up, left everything and followed him.
29Then Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors and others were eating with them. 30But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect complained to his disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and ‘sinners’?” 31Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.

Unlike Jesus, we humans “Mortals” make judgments even by the way people are dressed, or the first few words that come from thier mouth etc… You know them all. Well people are of different categories, ther are those who are easy to love, others hare hard to love, some are outright mean, others will work very hard to make sure you dont love them… Once again you have all come across different people and you my dear readers have your own individual catergories. Mnajijua!!! the thing is as Christians we have to strive to love even those people we cant stand. We have to learn to practice tolerance and patience.

Love is a choice that we make, we choose to love or not to love, many of us have hard relationships with our parents, girlfriends/boyfriends etc but we as Christians once again should make the choice that Christ made for us, make the choice to LOVE. Jesus did not get graduates who were the best of the best to to be his diciples, He chose the poor, the meek and basilly the ordinary members of society. Look at a fisherman… He/She is just a regular person going about thier daily chores to eek out a living.

Basically when you think that a certain person is not worthy being loved, friends, think about yourselves because you are not all you think you are to everyone. Ask yourself if you are worthy to be loved.

Let me conclude by giving you a very good example of love as preached by J.B Masinde of D C Umoja. In a function, a harambee or a bash or a get togetherwhere there are parents withtheir small children (toddlers), usually the folks are smart and in this case elite folks, the men with their suits and ladies in thierSunday best. Now… a child with snot sticking out of him/her nose, who has also oversoiled his diaper such that it is leaking piss and bad odur, with soil on his mouth will go to the nearst of his parents for help. Unfortunatly if it happens to be the father… most of the time the poor kid will be dismissed to go to the mother. In this terrible condition, the motherwill with no embarassment pick up the probably crying kid, hold him/her in her arms, hug the kid, take him/her out, wash the kid, change the diaper and kiss athe kid. Is that not an example of true love? my fellow men please learn form this example.

Thanks for you patience once again and God Bless you all to the maximum.

With LOVE
