This message was given to us by a rather jolly but confused looking Lawrence… why do I say confused… he was still hangovered from serving God in Mozambique in such a great way… 2000+ people getting saved… that was Amamaizing. By the way as much as this young and very religiously abitious chap is… he is doing a BSc in Environmental Science at the Kenyatta University.
His real name is Evangelist Lawrence Ndambuki Muli and I request you all to pray for him as he goes through the process fo his life. (Step by Step)
I like the way he always starts with a lovely punch line…
Jesus Words are Spirit and they are life.
Milk is good for growth but meat is good for strength. Many christians today are becoming grown sucklings. we are christians by growth but not by strength. Yes… we are claiming to be saved and all but when it comes to doing what is required of us as christians, we cower out.
Friends we live in a perverse and wicked genration… what can i call it… man eat man generation. Everywhere you go there is hate and sin, homosexuality is talked of like it were milking the neighbours cow. We need to change this generation to be more Christ like. We need to be different and thus special before Gods presence.
Look at Joseph, he was a young person at one point just like many of us and had great dreams but he was known to his older brothers as their father’s favorite. For this reason his 10 older brothers conspired against the boy and sold him to slave traders, while telling their father the boy had been mauled by an animal. Now aint that wicked? But… had been given dreams of God’s plan for his life; so with confidence and strength, he endured in this amazing story in Genesis. (Different and Special right?)
Let us take the example of an expectant lady, she has just found out she is pregnant… and for the sake of this wicked generation… she decides to keep the baby. Her first instincts will be planning for the hospital and how she will get there and all the details on giving birth, forgetting that before that there is a period of 9 months that she is not planning for. Many of us are like that , we forget that there is a dream and the manifestation of that dream.
We dont like taking the process step by step, we just want the end product, we want to take shortcuts and thus in the process many of us will probably loose track and will not reach the end, or rather our ultimate goals. If a pregnant lady does not look after the pregnancy, she is likely to miscarry before the end of the term and thus the planning for the end product… baby.
On the other hand we worship a God who never gives up on us even when we takes ourselves to the valley of the shadow of death. On the other hand we look for all sorts of excuses as why we dont accomplish our dreams. (Example is me… Ati I was brought up badly in a broken family). I sometimes look at myself as a cheapskate because others have made it and went through worse.
God never gives up on us its us who always give up. We want to manouver our way to achieve out dreams instead of take the the right path. We loose out on faith… yes, its a human thing but we need to be different… John the Baptist used these words…
Mathew 3:11 NIV
11“I baptize you with[b] water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. 12His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
But when he was in prison, he doubts Jesus and 3 days later what happens… He is beheaded.
the problem of many of us is that we want to finish what we started in the spirit with our flesh.
Lawrence went on to give a summary on the Kingdom Principles… I will outline them below for all and sundry to read and understand.
1. You Reap what you sow
Jesus taught this in various parables, including the parable of the sower (Matthew 13:1-9). Paul gave the classic statement:
You cannot fool God, so don’t make a fool of yourself! You will harvest what you plant. – Galatians 6:7
2. With God Small Makes Big
God takes small things, like our faith and our choices, and makes big things out of them.
31Jesus told them another story: The kingdom of heaven is like what happens when a farmer plants a mustard seed in a field. 32Although it is the smallest of all seeds, it grows larger than any garden plant and becomes a tree. Birds even come and nest on its branches.
— Matthew 13:31, 32
3. You are not the only sower.
Other people are sowing seeds that have an impact on your life, and the enemy of our souls is sowing seeds. But Jesus is faithful to watch and carry out His purposes in the end.
24Jesus then told them this story: The kingdom of heaven is like what happened when a farmer scattered good seed in a field. 25But while everyone was sleeping, an enemy came and scattered weed seeds in the field and then left. 26When the plants came up and began to ripen, the farmer’s servants could see the weeds. 27The servants came and asked, “Sir, didn’t you scatter good seed in your field? Where did these weeds come from?” 28“An enemy did this,” he replied. His servants then asked, “Do you want us to go out and pull up the weeds?” 29“No!” he answered. “You might also pull up the wheat.30Leave the weeds alone until harvest time. Then I’ll tell my workers to gather the weeds and tie them up and burn them. But I’ll have them store the wheat in my barn.”
– Matthew 13:24-30
4. God gives gifts, you choose to use them.
God promises wisdom to those who ask, and gives it generously (James 1:5). He gave wisdom to Solomon, but while Solomon was able to speak wise sayings and to issue wise judgments to his people, He did not always behave wisely himself. The record of Solomon’s life shows that we must choose to use the gifts that God gives us.
“A few seeds make a small harvest, but a lot of seeds make a big harvest.”
— 2 Corinthians 9:6
5. Choosing seed to sow is risky.
Those who must decide who is a false prophet and who is a true one, have to make a risky choice (Matthew 24:14-30). Elijah had to make a very risky choice on Mt. Carmel (1 Kings 18).
But choosing not to choose is also risky. We must step out and make a choice!
6. You must endure to the harvest.
The results of your choice may not be apparent as soon as you make it. You may need to wait to see the results.
God will bless you, if you don’t give up when your faith is being tested. He will reward you with a glorious life, just as he rewards everyone who loves him.
– James 1:12
God’s promises are often conditioned on obedience to his commands. This is because God’s commands are good, and show us a good way to live.
25You people of Israel accuse me of being unfair! But listen I’m not unfair; you are! 26If good people start doing evil, they must be put to death, because they have sinned. 27And if wicked people start doing right, they will save themselves from punishment. 28They will think about what they’ve done and stop sinning, and so they won’t be put to death. 29But you still say that I am unfair. You are the ones who have done wrong and are unfair! – Ezekiel 18:25-29
7. Grace overcomes the law of sowing and reaping.
Jesus illustrated this principle in his reaction to the woman at Simon’s feast (Luke 7:36-50). Those who forgive much, love much. God offers his forgiveness to sinners.
“But God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8 (NRSV)
Grace is offered while we are still sinners. We can break the chain of reaping and sowing where we or our parents have sown evil. God’s grace will break the chain and bring forgiveness and love.
“Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.” – 1 Timothy 1:15
The blessings in your life are limited to your source. If money is your source, then you will look for all the money in the world to to achieve it. Let God be your source, never limit yourself.
John 12:24 (NIV)
24I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.
Obtain a higher level of sacrifice.
Fight for your dream lest you loose it.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV)
16All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Even if you drop the batton, dont give up. Like the US mens team, are determined to regain thier glory in the next olympics, so should have that type of focus on life. Be different because… Different is Special!
God Bless you allAdopted from Sermon notes on Lawre’s preaching.
