Most of us have passed through a phase where we played house. In the place I grew up in it was called ‘Cha-baba na Cha-mama” loosely translated as ‘being father and mother’. At this point, I was always the youngest with my role being the kid to whatever family I fell into. The families were autonomous and functional, with everyone playing their role for the good of the family.
When the praise and worship was underway, you could feel the heavy presence of the Lord, releasing people from bondage and strongholds. You could feel light being restored to those who were lost to darkness and relationship with the father being mended. God is trinity, and through his Holy Spirit, He was there.
Every first Sunday of the month is Extended worship Sundays, a time to dwell in the awesome presence of God. This was no different, the Worship team did a great job with songs that spoke to our hearts and souls.
During the worship period, there Spirit led one of the ladies to affirming a few things to the church. She read from Acts 3:1-10. It talks about the Lame man who was healed by Peter and John. The lame man had been lame all his life and would be brought to the Temple’s gates to borrow every day. But by mere words from the men of God, he was healed.
Her message was, Stop trying. Through Jesus, we have been made able! Stop trying to do what the bible decrees of you to do, just do it. Stop trying to be a good Christian, through Christ, we have been made whole. Stop trying to be the best in your field, through Jesus you have been made the best in that field all you have to do is tap into the powers provided by the Holy Spirit and soar with wings like eagles. God has already made you who He intends you to be, just take charge and start living as He has intended for you.
Brian Bukachi was the speaker of the day and his words complemented what had been said. God speaks with us every day through numerous avenues. The Holy Spirit is ever-present in our lives and situations, even if we haven’t accepted Christ. He is the one who convicts us to the acceptance of Christ. Once we accept and welcome Him in, we are connected to the trinity through the helper that is on earth, the Holy Spirit. It’s up to us to give Him the roles he deserves.
Whenever we listen to worship songs, we are always drawn to the realization that they are songs of release and acceptance, we have to release our hold of our lives to the Holy Spirit for Him to take charge. Similarly to the ‘Cha-baba, Cha-mama’ situation, what role have we given the Holy Spirit in our lives? Is He a guest who is limited to just certain areas of our lives and blocked to others? Is He a host in the house and has access to every room that we have in us?
It is never easy to let the Holy Spirit take charge of our lives but we should learn how to stop trying and realize that it can be done. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
To help us raise the Status of the Holy Spirit in our lives, we should learn how to:
That which you spend time talking about excites you more. Praise God in everything you do, with your whole being. The more time you spend thinking and speaking of God the higher a priority He takes in your life.
You need to allow the Holy Spirit host status in your life. He will take charge and steer you to the direction that is best for you and the purpose you are created for. Be ready to be used as a vessel. You also need to create a link with God through reading his word and being in communication with Him.
You should be alert to the calling and directing of the Holy Spirit. Train yourself to listen to the calls of the Holy Spirit.
Yearn more from Him
Ask the Holy Spirit to use you and be more in you. Be alert to God’s teachings and hunger to know more of Him.
Once you accept Christ, the Holy Spirit takes over your life and you begin a life of transformation. Let the Holy Spirit take charge, give Him the Host status in your life. How far have you let the Holy Spirit to take charge of your life?
