Sufficient grace to make us whole

You are sited thinking about what has just happened. It’s not the first time you have faulted this way. Both of you had agreed never to let this happen again. You were going to avoid it, you had promised. She has failed you, you have failed too. You were sure you heard a voice saying, “don’t do it. It’s not good.”

Guilt torments your veins. You can’t pray, you are stained. He can’t lead the prayers at the CG, he is not worthy. They look at each other; they both know what the other is thinking. Will it ever come to light? What will they think of me when they know what I have been up to?

We all sin in the various aspects of our lives. The above scenario might be what plays out after anything, a bribe being given, a sexual sin being committed, a lie being told, name it, the feeling is always the same afterwards. Guilt.  If that which you are ashamed of is ever reviled, will you ever have the courage to stand and face the people you interact with?

The speaker of the day, Wambua Nzaku defined Grace as unmerited favor. One that we did not deserve but are having it either way.

Ephesians 2:8-9

8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

We do not deserve this form of grace but we have been given either way. We are perpetual sinners and if it were not for the grace of God, we would not be where we are today. Though we are sinful in nature, the word of God has a way to make us better and more steadfast in obeying God. The saddest truth is that we always plan to sin. We pre-meditate upon it and set plans on how to go about it, leading to the question,…

Psalms 130:3

3 If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand?

In John 3:16, God gave and He gave of his son, that we may have life and life in eternal. It’s up to us to accept this and make it a reality in our lives. Through Jesus we receive grace and mercy as stated in 1 Timothy 1:15-16

15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. 16 But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.

We need to remember that it’s not through our might that we are the way we are. God has great plans for our lives and we need to constantly seek Him. Do not be quick to judge yourself. Self-pity and loath are not products of our Father, He will not hate you for what you did. Repent and he will take you in a heartbeat.

1 Corinthians 15:10

10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.

God has you in mind. It is never laborious to obey Him and follow His teaching. Either way, if you fall, He is there to pick you up with sufficient grace. Romans 5:20-25 says,

20 The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, 21 so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

As you go through life remember, in the Lord’s prayer, we start by worshiping God and asking for forgiveness way later. It is not about us, it’s about our merciful and all gracious God. Put your focus on God as you pray and live and everything else will be as easy as never before.

The drama team did a very good job with the announcements. That was very hilarious.
